23123 • Name: Thomas HOWORTH • Sex: M • Birth: in North Meols, Lancashire, England • Christening: 27 MAR 1726 St. Cuthberts, North Meols, Lancashire, England • Death: in Church Town, North Meols, Lancashire, England • Burial: 6 JAN 1766 St. Cuthberts, North Meols, Lancashire, England • Occupation: tailor Chr 1726 Thomas s. of Thomas: Howorth. Judy Bradwell Thomas 2 married Jennet Blondell (Blundell) 10 Feb 1746 NMPR Jennet Blundell was bapt 14 July 1723. She was aged 23 when she married. If Thomas 2 was b 26March 1726 he would have been barely 20. I think this birth/baptism date for Thomas 2 is wrong. It was very traditional that the husband was older than the woman. There are instances of a few months, but three years would have been a big gap. The aim was to get the man established with some sort of prospects so he could keep a wife. I know a lot of the first babies were born at seven months (or so) but I tend to think once the couple were heading up the church path and formally engaged, well things took their course. So we can't rely on a shotgun marriage for Thomas and Jennet to explain his age. I think Thomas 2 must have been born about 1721, or earlier. Marriage 1746 Feb 10 Thomas Howard & Jennet Blondel Marriage 1762 Oct 11 Thomas Howard & Jane Waddington. burial 1766 Jan 6 Thomas Howard of Church Town. Wills and Inventories now preserved in the Court of Probate at Chester FHL 88797. Howard Admon of Thomas late of Church Town North Meols Taylor was granted to Jane his Widow and Relict first sworn23Oct 1766 Know all men...That Jane Howard of Church Town within Northmeols in the County of Lancaster Widow and James Ascroft of Bispham in the County of Lancaster Husbandman and James Grice Ormskirk in the said County Cooper...twenty fourth day of October... The condition of this Obligation is such, that if the above bound on Jane Howard Widow Relick is assigned all and singular the goods, chattels, and credits of Thomas Howard late of Church Town within Northmeols abovesaid in the Diocose of Chester Taylor Deceased...The mark of Jane Howard... Howard 345 Judy Bradwell It is signed with Jane's mark and the signatures of James Ashcroft and James Grice (though the latter is not clear). The designation Taylor ie tailor is interesting; Thomas Howard the oldest son who was born 29 January 1749 and died 15 May 1801 from weakness (most probably TB) was also a tailor.
